I got to do a long interview about the dropout as a cultural touchstone of Silicon Valley

Jobs, Zuckerberg, Holmes: the figure of the college dropout has been very important for a particular era in Silicon Valley’s self-staging and self-marketing. An era that may or may not be coming to an end. After I got to reflect on that figure extensively in my 2020 book What Tech Calls Thinking, the online magazine krautreporter.de invited me to reflect on whether the figure still retained its appeal and, if not, what changed. I in fact think the figure has lost quite a bit of its luster, and I had fun exploring with Rebecca Kelber why this might be happening. The link to the interview is here.
