In what started out as a review about the Tom Hanks-moderated inaugural special the Biden-team put together for the socially distanced inauguration, and what then became an essay about new beginnings and the birth of my daughter, this piece for ZEIT Online delves into the hope for a new start in the US and the reasons why this hope could lead to dangerous places. I got a surprising amount of angry feedback on this piece, unsure what to make of that.
